Having trouble connecting to a cellular network or Wi‑Fi on your Windows 10 Mobile phone? Here are some things to try.

For trouble with a cellular connection

    • Make sure your cellular data connection is turned on. On Start , swipe over to the All apps list, then select Settings > Network & wireless > Cellular & SIM to check.

    • Check your cellular signal strength () by looking at the number of bars at the top of the screen. Try going to another spot to get a better signal. For example, move closer to a window or go outside.

    • Check the top of your screen to see if airplane mode is turned on. To turn off airplane mode if it's on, swipe down from the top of your screen, then select Expand > Airplane mode.

    • Make sure your SIM card is inserted and recognized. This icon () appears at the top of the screen if it isn't. See the manual for your phone model to learn how to insert or remove your SIM.

    • Check your cellular and SIM settings and change them if necessary. On Start , swipe over to the All apps list, then select Settings > Network & wireless > Cellular & SIM . Learn more about these settings and how to change them.

    For problems with Wi‑Fi

    • Make sure Wi‑Fi is turned on. On Start , swipe over to the All apps list, then select Settings > Network & wireless > Wi‑Fi to check. If you're not connected to a network, select one you recognize from the list, select Connect, then type the network password (if the network is password protected) > Next.

    • Swipe down from the top of your screen, then select Expand > Airplane mode to turn it off if it's on.

    • Move closer to the router or access point.

    • Try the more advanced steps listed in Fix Wi-Fi connection issues in Windows 10 Mobile.

If you're still having Wi-Fi problems, restart your phone and your Wi‑Fi router.

Don't see your Wi‑Fi network name at home?

Make sure your router is set to broadcast the network name:

    1. Go to your PC and connect it to your router using an Ethernet cable.

    2. Open your web browser and type the IP address for your wireless router. (For example, 192.168.1.1 or 172.16.0.0—check the documentation for your router to find the default IP address.)

    3. Sign in with your user name and password, then make sure an option labeled Enable SSID Broadcast, Wireless SSID broadcast, or something similar is turned on. This setting is usually on a Wireless Settings page.

Next, from Start on your phone, swipe over to the All apps list, select Settings > Network & wireless > Wi‑Fi , and then see if your network name appears.
