Within Forefront Online Protection for Exchange (FOPE) protected environments, it is necessary to incorporate a fixed list of specific IP addresses into your firewall’s ALLOWED list for inbound traffic over port 25.
To view the set of ALLOWED IP addresses that must be incorporated into your firewall’s ALLOWED list:
- Log into the Forefront Online Protection for Exchange administrator
- Click on the Information tab
- Click on the Configuration tab
Here you can view the list of FOPE data center IP addresses that must be on your firewall’s ALLOWED IP list.
Please note, failure to add these IP addresses to your firewall’s ALLOWED list may result in email loss.
In addition, Forefront Online Protection for Exchange will send email into your domain using your domain name as the sender. Configuring a blanket rule rejecting all mail into your domain, from your domain, will result in email loss from the FOPE servers. If your on-premise filtering device has the ability to prevent email from entering your domain FROM your domain, you must configure the appropriate exclusions within the on-premise device as relating to the Forefront Online Protection for Exchange data center IP address list referenced above.
