Connect an Xbox 360 Limited Edition Gears of War 3 Wireless ControllerYour Xbox 360 Limited Edition Gears of War 3 Wireless Controller "connects" wirelessly to your Xbox 360 console. You can connect up to four controllers to your Xbox 360 console.
When you connect a wireless controller to your Xbox 360 console, the console assigns that controller to a specific virtual port. For example, the controller that turns on your console is assigned to the first port. The second controller that you connect is assigned to the second port. This process continues until you connect the last controller to the console.
To connect an Xbox 360 Limited Edition Gears of War 3 Wireless Controller to an Xbox 360 console, follow these steps:
- Press the power button on the Xbox 360 console to turn it on.
- Press the Xbox Guide button on the Xbox 360 Limited Edition Gears of War 3 Wireless Controller to turn it on.
- Press the Connect button on the front of the Xbox 360 console.
- Press the Connect button on the top of the wireless controller.
Note You can also connect an Xbox 360 Limited Edition Gears of War 3 Wireless Controller to a computer by using the Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows. Make sure that the computer is turned on, and then follow these same steps except for steps 1 and 3. In step 1, turn on the wireless gaming receiver. In step 3, press the Connect button on the wireless gaming receiver.
Power button indicator lightThe power button on the Xbox 360 console has a light around it with four sections. This light provides information about the controller connections and the current state of the console. For example, when you connect a wired controller to the console, and then press the Xbox Guide button to start the console, the console assigns that controller to port 1 and a green light in the upper-left section comes on. The console has four ports that can be assigned to controllers.
The lights correspond to each port on the console as follows:
- Port 1: Upper-left position
- Port 2: Upper-right position
- Port 3: Lower-left position
- Port 4: Lower-right position
Note The orientation of the lights remains the same whether the console is in a vertical or horizontal position. In other words, if you position your console horizontally, port 1 is in the upper-left position; if you position the console vertically, the light adjusts so that port 1 is still in the upper-left position.
BatteriesThe Xbox 360 Limited Edition Gears of War 3 Wireless Controller includes an AA battery pack that accepts two AA (L6) batteries to power the controller. You can use alkaline or rechargeable batteries in the wireless controller.
You can also use the Xbox 360 Play & Charge Kit to power the controller. This kit includes the Xbox 360 Rechargeable Battery Pack and a charge cable so that you can continue to play games as you charge the battery.

Note The Xbox 360 Headset is sold as a separate accessory.
