Customer is using common Process Industries functionality, where they produce items in large quantities (bulk), but the items are packed and sold into smaller recipients (packaged items).
Master planning is used to calculate requirements and generate planned orders. Each item has one or more formula versions. The formula versions have expiration dates, as the ingredients and default quantities change over time.
Users are firming and consolidating planned orders to update production department with requested quantities.
