Use an Excel Worksheet as a Data Source in FrontPage

To use an Excel worksheet as a data source in FrontPage, follow these steps:

  1. In Microsoft Excel, follow these steps:

    1. Open the Excel worksheet, and select the data that you want to use.
    2. On the Insert menu, point to Name, and then click Define. Type a name for the selection, and then click OK.
    3. Quit Excel. If you are prompted to save changes you made to the worksheet, click Yes.
  2. In FrontPage, open an existing web, or create a new web.
  3. On the File menu, click Import, and then click Add File.
  4. Select the Excel worksheet that you modified in step 1. Click Open. Click OK.
  5. On the File menu, point to New, and then click Page. Click Normal Page, and then click OK.
  6. On the Insert menu, point to Database, and then click Results.
  7. Click Use a new database connection, and then click Create.
  8. Click Add. Give the database connection a name.
  9. Click File or Folder in current Web, and then click Browse.
  10. In the Files of Type list, select "Microsoft Excel Driver", and then click Excel spreadsheet. Click OK two times.
  11. Click Verify. Click Apply. Click OK.
  12. Click Next. Accept the default settings until you reach the end of the wizard, and then click Finish.
  13. On the File menu, click Save As. Save the file with an .asp extension.
  14. Publish the web to a server that supports Active Server Pages.

NOTE: The same methods used to post to or query an Access database can also be used to post to or query an Excel worksheet.
