Golf 2001: Problems When You Use Password Protected Screen Saver

If you play Microsoft Golf 2001 Edition on a Microsoft Windows 2000-based
computer and a password-protected screen saver initializes, you may
experience the following symptoms:

  • Microsoft Golf 2001 Edition may quit unexpectedly.
  • The screen saver may activate, forcing you to log back on to
    Windows 2000.
  • The Microsoft Windows desktop may retain the resolution and
the color depth that you configured the game to use.
In addition, you may receive the following error message when you log
back on to Windows 2000:

DirectDraw Init Failed

To prevent this issue from occurring, turn off password-protected screen savers when you play Golf 2001 on a Windows 2000-based computer.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Golf 2001 Edition.

Screen savers that are not password protected do not initialize when you play Microsoft Golf 2001 on a Windows 2000-based computer.
