IntelliPoint: Mouse Pointer Movement Is Slow or Jerky in DirectX Programs

When you play a game or run a program that uses Microsoft DirectDraw or Microsoft Direct3D, you may experience jerky or delayed mouse pointer movements.

This behavior can occur if the following conditions are true:

  • The Pointer Shadow feature is turned on.

  • You are using a Microsoft Windows 2000-based computer.

  • A video adapter that is not listed on the Windows 2000 Hardware Compatibility List is installed in your computer.

To work around this issue, turn off the Pointer Shadow feature:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Mouse.
  3. On the Pointers tab, click to clear the Enable pointer shadow check box.
  4. Click Apply, and then click OK.
