A new Hotmail folder does not appear in Outlook


After you create a new Hotmail folder with a Web browser and the Hotmail Web site, the new folder does not appear in the Hotmail Folder List in Microsoft Outlook.


This behavior occurs because you need to update the list of Outlook folders in the Hotmail account.


To resolve this behavior, select the Outlook Inbox that is associated with your Hotmail account, click the Tools menu, point to Send/Receive and then click Update Folder List.

More Information

This behavior is by design.

To reduce the burden that is placed on Hotmail servers, Outlook does not update the Folder List each time that you view a Hotmail folder or perform a Send/Receive function.
