Error "The InstallShield Engine (iKernel.exe) Could Not be Installed." When Installing FRx 6.0

Issue

Error - "The InstallShield Engine (iKernel.exe) could not be installed. iKernel could not be copied to C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Engine\6\Intel32" occurs when attempting to select the Installation Type while installing FRx.

Potential Cause

The InstallShield is damaged and needs to be recreated by renaming the existing InstallShield and then proceeding with with the FRx installation.

Resolution

1. Open Windows Explorer

2. Browse to the InstallShield- C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\

3. Rename the InstallShield to InstallShieldOld

4. Attempt the FRx install again (this will create a new InstallShield).
