After you configure public folder replication on a Hub Transport server that has Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 installed, the EdgeTransport.exe process randomly stops responding. Additionally, the following event is logged in the Application log:
Event ID : 4999 Raw Event ID : 4999 Category : General Source : MSExchange Common Type : Error Generated : time Written : time Machine : computer Message : Watson report about to be sent to dw20.exe for process id: Process ID, with parameters: E12, Build Type, Version Number, edgetransport, M.E.D.Storage, M.E.D.S.MailboxSession.get_MailboxGuid, System.NullReferenceException, XXXX, Version Number
This issue occurs when Edgetransport.exe processes the Mailbox GUID attribute of the public folder replication content messages. The value of the Mailbox GUID attribute is NULL. This causes an exception to be thrown.
To resolve this issue, install the following update rollup:
2602324 Description of Update Rollup 5 for Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 3
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
