Symptoms

You query by using sys.dm_db_tuning_recommendations dynamic management view (DMV) in SQL Server 2017. If SQL Server query optimizer (QO) uses a parallel query execution plan, an access violation may occur, and a dump file is generated.

Resolution

This fix is included in the following update for SQL Server:

Workaround

To work around this issue, use the following option when you query sys.dm_db_tuning_recommendations to remove parallelism and avoid the risk of an access violation:
