CAUSE

This can be caused due to a corrupted package already downloaded (or partially downloaded) or having problems with Internet Explorer (IE) because of damaged files or missing registration information or can be a cryptographic issue.

RESOLUTION

You can try the following steps;
 
1. Delete the partially downloaded contents of the corrupted package.
 
2. Run File Signature Verification (sigverif)
From the Start menu, select Run.
In the Open field, type sigverif
Select the OK button.
Follow the prompts throughout the File Signature Verification process which is logged in SIGVERIF.TXT
Check the summary of SIGVERIF.TXT, make sure Unsigned Files = 0.
 
3. Run Windows File Checker (sfc)
Scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions.
From the Start menu, select Run.
In the Open field, type sfc /scannow (Note: There is a space between sfc and /scannow)
Select the OK button.
Follow the prompts throughout the System File Checker process.
Reboot the computer when System File Checker completes.
Test to determine if the issue is resolved. If the issue is resolved, skip the remaining steps. If the issue is not resolved, continue to the next step.
 
4. Run IE Repair
You can also repair IE using this procedure;
Search for IE.inf from C:\WINDOWS\inf
Right click and select Install
If the issue is resolved, skip the remaining steps. If the issue is not resolved, continue to the next step.

5. Re-Install the Service Pack:
Last but not the least, if all the steps doesn't work, try to re-install the service pack.

1. Click Internet Options on the Tools menu in Internet Explorer. On the Security tab, click the Internet Zone and make sure the setting is Medium.Also try to delete the Temporary Internet Files & Cache.
