Get speed, security, and privacy with the new Microsoft Edge

Microsoft Edge remembers information for you, making it easier to return to a favorite site or fill in forms. Unless you use an InPrivate window, it stores your browsing history—your passwords, info you've entered in forms, sites you've visited, and other information too.

Most of this info is stored on your PC only, but if you use Cortana, some info is also stored in the cloud so Cortana can bring you timely and personal suggestions and assistance.

You can easily see your browser history—just select Favorites > History . And any time you want to clear the history, you can.

Clear browsing history stored on your PC

  1. To view your browsing history, in your Microsoft Edge browser, select Favorites > History .

  2. Select Clear history.

  3. Choose the types of data you want to remove from your PC (see the table for descriptions). For example, you may want to remove browsing history and cookies, but keep the history for autofill and passwords.

  4. Select Clear.

Clear browsing history stored in the cloud (if you use Cortana)

  1. To view your browsing history, in your Microsoft Edge browser, select Favorites > History .

  2. Select Change what Microsoft Edge knows about me in the cloud, then select Clear activity.
