With Microsoft Lync 2010 communications software you can exchange information in real time with another person by using instant messaging (IM). It’s easy to accept a message by clicking the alert that indicates someone is starting an IM conversation with you. If you don’t currently have time for an IM conversation, you can choose to ignore the conversation alert. Or, you can change the IM conversation to a voice call by adding audio.
What do you want to do?
Accept a new instant message
To accept the instant message, do the following:
-
Click the alert.
Ignore a new instant message
To ignore an incoming instant message, do the following:
-
Click the Ignore button in the alert. The contact will not receive an indication that you have declined the message but will not get a response.
Respond to an instant message with a voice call
To respond with a voice call instead of with an instant message, do one of the following:
-
If you haven’t started the IM conversation yet, click Redirect in the alert, and then select a calling option.
-
If you’re already in an IM conversation, click the Call button in the conversation window.
