A good bio helps in providing useful context about a person immediately. It helps in humanizing, contextualizing, building relationships, and finding the right people. This feature allows you to easily add a bio to your profile with an AI-powered first draft which you can review and easily tweak before you add it to your profile for everyone in your organization to see.
Viewing your bio and others' bio
Before the bio is published, it will only be visible to you on your own profile card as a suggestion and once it is accepted ("Add to profile" is clicked), it becomes part of your profile and is visible for everyone to see.
Bio suggestion on your own profile card (pre-publish)
If you do not have a bio already, you’ll see an AI generated draft on your profile card’s overview tab (via Outlook & Copilot endpoints). This is only visible to you until you review and click on ‘Add to profile’.
Here, you have the following options available:

Edit: Click on Edit to in-line edit the suggested bio before adding to your profile. This allows you to fix any inaccuracies or modify it to your own taste and style.

Add to profile: Click on ‘Add to profile’ will add the text as your bio on your profile. This will be visible to everyone in your organization on your profile via any M365 apps

Dismiss: If you don’t like the suggestion/feature, you can dismiss it by clicking on the “dismiss” option under more options. Once dismissed, the suggested bio will disappear from your card and will not be shown to you again for 6 months.

Feedback: Select the thumbs up/down icon to give feedback to improve the feature.

How your bio will appear to yourself
Once you click on "add to profile", you will be able to see your bio on your own profile card on the Overview tab at the top, as well as on the Contact tab at the bottom.
You can always edit or remove your biography by clicking on ‘Update your profile’.

Once you have added the bio to your profile, it will be visible to everyone in your organization on your profile via any M365 app such as Teams, Outlook, and Copilot. It will be available on the Overview tab under the Contact sections, as well as on the Contact tab at the bottom.
Note: External users like guest account users will not be able to see this bio.

AI‑generated bio is created using:

Profile data (via Profile API): Organizational details such as your Role and Team and user-added details like Expertise and Skills

People Notes: Intelligent summaries based on your contributions in meetings, emails, and chats.
The system may also infer and summarize themes from your work. In some cases, descriptions are kept safely generic to give you a starting point that you can edit and personalize.
