Access and Excel uses specific equations to calculate the Standard deviation(s) and Standard error error amounts. For more information, see Equations for calculating the error amount.

If you change the datasheet values associated with the data points in the series, the error bars are adjusted to reflect your changes.

The direction of the error bars depends on the type of chart you’re using. Scatter charts can show both horizontal and vertical error bars. You can remove either of these error bars by selecting them, and then pressing Delete.
