Copy the file that is opening incorrectly to your desktop

Right-click on the file and choose Properties
On the General tab, next to Type of file, it will show what type of file it is, within parenthesis. For example, (.docx) or (.pdf) or (.csv)
The Opens with shows you which app it is currently associated with. To have this type of file open in a different app:

Select Change

Choose More apps

Choose the desired app and select the checkbox to always use this app

Select OK
If you don’t see the desired Office app in the list of available apps, then Office may not be installed correctly.
Follow these steps to perform a Repair of Office.
Note Having too many versions of Office on your computer can cause issues, including files opening in the wrong version of Office. Consider uninstalling the versions you don't need.
