If you start a line with an asterisk (*) or the number 1 and a period (1.) followed by a space, Word creates a bulleted or numbered list. (You can turn the automatic list recognition feature on or off.)
To use your keyboard for bulleted lists:

To add a bullet, type Ctrl+Shift+L.

To change bulleted text back to normal text, type Ctrl+Shift+N.

To select other bullet styles, type Alt+H, U and select a style.
