If you no longer need a page in your notebook, you can delete it at any time. Deleted pages are moved to the Notebook Recycle Bin, where they remain for up to 60 days before being permanently removed.
Delete a page:
-
In OneNote for Windows, go to the section that contains the page you want to delete.
-
Right‑click the page name in the page list.
-
Select Delete Page.
The page is removed from the section and sent to the Notebook Recycle Bin.
Note: If you delete a page by accident, you can immediately press Ctrl+Z to undo the deletion.
Where deleted pages go:
Deleted pages are moved to Deleted Notes > Deleted Pages within the Notebook Recycle Bin. You can access the Recycle Bin from the History tab in the ribbon.
Delete a labeled page:
If your organization uses sensitivity labels, OneNote protects labeled content when it’s deleted.
When you delete a page from a section with sensitivity label:
-
The page is moved to a dedicated deleted‑pages section inside Deleted Notes, named after the original section with “– Deleted Pages” added.
Example: Finance – Deleted Pages
-
The page keeps the sensitivity label it had at the time of deletion
-
If the label of the section or name has changed since previous deletions, OneNote may create an additional deleted‑pages section to preserve label integrity.
-
You can only view deleted labeled pages if you have permission to access the protected content.
Important: You can’t change or remove sensitivity labels while pages are in the Recycle Bin, and OneNote may ask you to sign in with the correct account before opening protected labeled content.
