A file may be locked when someone else is working in it, if the file has been saved as "Final" and is protected, or the app may be running in the background. You may have success unlocking a file if you:

  • Wait a few hours.

  • Open a different file.

  • Make sure the file isn't already open.

  • Adjust the permissions or file settings and try again.

Tip: Even when a file is locked, you may be able to open and view the file as read-only.
