What is Copilot in Forms?
Microsoft Forms is a web-based Microsoft 365 application focusing on conducting surveys and polls. Copilot in Forms is an addition to Microsoft Forms that helps users author forms by using natural language text input to generate a set of possible questions that can be added to the form.
What can Copilot in Forms do?
Copilot is a feature that uses large language models to generate draft survey content and questions, providing users with more efficient options to create forms. With this feature, the system offers pre-written questions and suggested responses to help users speed up the process of authoring surveys.
What are intended uses of Copilot in Forms?
Copilot in Forms is intended to provide an effective way of creating forms using large language models to generate survey content based on natural language text input. By simplifying the form creation process, Copilot enables users to create relevant forms faster and more efficiently.
Copilot must not be used to generate the following types of content:
-
Harmful or disrespectful content.
-
Creation of possibly copyrighted material.
-
Content related to legal, medical or financial advice.
-
Employment-related situations such as evaluating performance.
-
Creation of phishing forms.
Is Copilot-generated content always factual?
Copilot in Forms was trained in the past on data for the Internet and so, it is not up to date on the latest facts and news headlines. Copilot does not search online for additional data and only uses the data it’s been trained on. As a result, content may be generated that is no longer correct in the present time. Copilot may also generate content that sounds convincing but is incomplete, inaccurate, or inappropriate. Use your own judgment and double check the facts before making decisions or acting based on Copilot’s responses.
How was Copilot in Forms evaluated?
Copilot in Forms was evaluated through both manual and automated testing in order to provide appropriate drafts.
Microsoft Forms collects performance and usage data and users can provide feedback to share their experiences and report inaccurate drafts. The feedback will help improve Copilot in Forms.
What are the limitations of Copilot in Forms? How can users minimize the impact of Copilot’s limitations when using the system?
The model will generate its best results in English. Support and quality in other languages are expected to be improved over time.
Users should review the generated draft and make necessary modifications before sending it out to respondents. Use appropriate judgement before using content generated by Copilot.
Copilot does not perform online searches when generating suggestions. Care should be taken to review suggestions, even if they sound convincing.
What operational factors and settings allow for effective and responsible use of Copilot in Forms?
There is an input length limit and frequency limit to avoid abusing the system and a valid Microsoft 365 Copilot license is required to use the Copilot in Forms feature.
Filters are in place to minimize the chances that inappropriate content will be generated.
Users may report inappropriate or non-compliant suggestions.
Can I delete my Copilot history?
Yes. Navigate to myaccount.microsoft.com, go to Settings & Privacy, select the Privacy tab, and then Copilot interaction history. There will be a button to clear your history. For details on this feature, go to Delete your Microsoft Copilot interaction history. Copilot in Forms data will also be removed along with Copilot data in other Microsoft 365 applications.
