  1. In a new message or message reply, select the Options tab.

  2. In the Tracking group, select the Request a Read Receipt check box.Outlook Return Receipt Requested checkbox

  3. Complete your message, then select Send. 

Note: If the recipient chooses to send the read receipt, it will appear in your inbox with this icon:  Icon indicating that the Inbox item is a Read or Delivery receipt.
