In your apps for Office, you may sometimes have unexpected behavior.
Symptoms
Your picture or clip does not display properly, or a red X appears instead.
Resolution
Do one of the following:
-
Make sure you have the latest Office Updates installed.
-
Try going to File > Save As and save your file to a different location. Close PowerPoint and reopen the file to see if your pictures display properly.
-
When you insert or drag a picture or motion clip into your document, and you do not have a graphics filter installed for that clip, you may see an image of a red X instead of your picture or motion clip.
See the information in the dialog box that appears for information about how to resolve the issue. For example, you may be prompted to install a graphics filter to view the picture or clip.
You may also receive an error message if the existing graphics import filter is missing, corrupted, or incompatible.
-
If you sent your document through e-mail or copied it to a network file server, and your picture or clip is linked and not embedded, send the picture or clip files through e-mail with your document, or copy the picture or clip files to the same network file folder that contains your document.
Tip: In PowerPoint, you can use the Package for CD feature to update the links and bundle the associated files.
