Insert a flow chart

There are many different SmartArt layouts that you can use to illustrate the steps in a process, including layouts that can contain pictures.

1. Go to Insert and select   SmartArt. If you don't see SmartArt, select Illustrations first.

2. Choose a category, such as Process, find a shape from the list, and select OK. 

3. Design your flow chart using options in the SmartArt Design tab. 
   
   Note: If you do not see the SmartArt Design tab, select SmartArt chart.

3. Design your flow chart using options in the SmartArt Design tab.

Inserting a flow chart isn't currently possible in Excel for the web. You can, however, insert a flow chart in the Excel desktop app.

• To open the desktop app, at the top of the ribbon, select Editing > Open in Desktop App.
