Accented characters can be found in the Symbol dialog:

Select Insert > Symbols > Symbol.

Ensure that Font is set to (normal text).

Scroll through the grid of options to find the accented character you want.Â

Select the character, then select Insert.Â

Press ⌘+Control+spacebar.

When the Character Viewer first appears, it may show a simplified view that features emojis. If so, select the palette icon near the upper-right corner to open the larger Character Viewer.

Select Latin in the category list on the left, then scroll through the grid to find the character you want.Â

Double-click the character to insert it on your slide.Â
