You can add an action button with a hyperlink so when the button is clicked, it jumps to another slide in the presentation, a webpage, or a custom slide show. 

Hyperlink to a slide

  1. In the Action Settings dialog, choose Slide. 

  2. Under Slide title select a slide from your currently open presentation. 

  3. The slide is displayed in the Preview box.

  4. When you're satisfied with your selection, select OK.

You can only link to slides in the currently open presentation. You can however choose Other PowerPoint Presentation to open a different presentation.

Tip: Instead of choosing Slide, use Next Slide, Previous Slide, First Slide, Last Slide, or Last Slide Viewed to quickly navigate to other slides. 

Hyperlink to a URL

To link to a webpage or to a page on your organization's intranet, use the web address or URL of that page.

  1. In your web browser, open the webpage to link to from the action button. 

  2. In the address bar of the web browser, copy the entire URL of the webpage. The URL begins with https or http.Tip: Select the address bar, press Ctrl+A to select the whole URL, and then press Ctrl+C to copy it. 

  3. Switch back to PowerPoint. Select URL from the Hyperlink to list in the Action Settings dialog.

  4. In the Hyperlink to URL dialog highlight the text that's already there, paste the copied URL and select OK.

Hyperlink to a custom show

To link to a custom show, you'll need to set up a custom show first. For more info, see Create and present a custom show. 

  1. From the Custom Show dialog, select the name of your custom show. 

  2. Optionaly, select Show and return to return to your current slide show after the custom show is completed. 

  3. Select OK.

If you turn on Show and return, when you reach the last slide in the custom show, PowerPoint returns automatically to the slide where the action button is. 

How you got here

  1. On the Insert tab, select Word W32 Shapes button icon Shapes.

  2. Scroll to the bottom of the Shapes gallery and choose an Action Button.

  3. Draw the button onto a slide.

  4. In the Action settings dialog that opens, select Hyperlink to and choose where to link to from the dropdown list.
