It's simple and quick to openĀ your one-on-one or group chat inĀ a separate window. Then, resize, reposition, or close the window if you want to. It’s a good way to get more done when you’re in a meeting or in a call. (Note that you can openĀ multiple conversations in new windows, but not the same chat twice.)

Tip:Ā To do other things (like scheduling meetings, attaching a OneDrive File, adding apps),Ā return to the main app to find those familiar features. You don't need to close theĀ chat window.

There are a few options to open aĀ chat in a new window in Teams. Here are a few different methods:Ā Ā 

From a chat

  1. Find the chat you want.

  2. Select More options Three asterisks indicating more options menu> Open chat in new window New breakout icon.

  3. Or, double-click the chat name and you’ll see a newĀ chat window.

From a profile picture

Double-click the profile picture of the person or group you want to have a conversation with to openĀ a new window.
