On the Home tab, select the
Font dialog box launcher in the Font group,. -
Choose the font and size you want and select Set As Default.

On the Format menu, select Font.

Select the font and size you want to use.

Select Default and then OK.
Setting the default font isn't currently possible in Word for the web. You can, however, set the default font in the Word desktop app.

To open the desktop app, at the top of the ribbon, select Editing > Open in Desktop.
