If your organization has configured Lync so that location-sharing is enabled for you and your contacts, your location will by default display next to your contact photo once you set it. To set the location name that appears next to your photo:
-
On the Lync main window, click Set Your Location to the right of your photo area.
-
In the text box that opens up, type a descriptive location name , such as “Home”, “Work”, “Building A”.
-
Click anywhere outside the location text box to save your changes.
Lync will now automatically associate this location name with the network you are currently on. Follow the same process to set other location names when you log on to other networks for the first time. Going forward, Lync will remember those location names and display the appropriate name whenever you are on a given network.
You can change the location names at any time by following the steps above.
If you choose not to share your location with others:
-
In the Lync main window, click the location menu.
-
Click (uncheck) the Show Others My Location menu item. A red circle with a diagonal line through it should display on your Lync main window display. Your contacts won’t see any location information for you.
