When first entering a meeting, you can set the default for your microphone to on or off.

  1. Join a meeting and go to the Computer audio section icon Computer audio section in the pre-meeting Choose your audio and video settings screen.

  2. Slide the switch Slide switch Off button next to Teams microphone icon to on or off.

  3. Select Join now and continue.

When you enter a meeting, your microphone is on or off depending on what you set in the pre-meeting screen. This setting persists through future meetings. You can change it for the duration of the meeting by selecting Teams microphone icon or Microphone off button in the upper right. 

Note: If you enter a meeting with your microphone unmuted, but it immediately mutes, the presenter may have turned off attendees microphones.
