Sign in to SharePoint
SharePoint is a browser-based app that you connect to through your web browser. If your organization has assigned you a license that includes SharePoint, you can sign in. We will discuss two common methods to sign in:
-
From the Microsoft 365 home page-microsoft365.com
-
From a SharePoint site URL- typically in the format of https://yourorganizationname.sharepoint.com/sites/project-x
Sign in to SharePoint from the Microsoft 365 homepage
-
Go to microsoft365.com, and sign in to your work or school account. To switch accounts, select your name or picture at the top right of the browser window.
-
In the upper left corner of the window, select the app launcher > SharePoint
Tip: If you don't see the SharePoint app after selecting the app launcher, you can find it by either selecting More apps, or using the Search box near the top of the window to search for SharePoint.
For more information, see Where to sign in to Microsoft 365.
Note: Images in this Quick Start depict the Modern experience unless otherwise indicated. For more information, see Which version of SharePoint am I using?
Sign in to SharePoint from a SharePoint site URL
If you have the URL to a SharePoint site, you can sign in to SharePoint from the site URL:
-
Copy the SharePoint site URL (e.g., https://yourorganizationname.sharepoint.com/sites/project-x). Ensure you replace "yourorganizationname" and "project-x" with your own organization’s domain name and your actual site's name, respectively.
-
Paste the site URL into your browser's address bar and press Enter.
-
You will be redirected to the Microsoft 365 sign-in page.
-
Sign in with your Microsoft 365 credentials.
Trouble finding SharePoint?
If you can't see or find the tile for the SharePoint app, look at your subscription information:
-
On the Microsoft 365 home page, near the upper right corner, select Install and more > Explore your Apps.
-
Select All apps.
The All apps page shows which apps and services are included in your Microsoft 365 subscription.
-
Scan the lists to see whether SharePoint is included.
-
If SharePoint doesn't appear in the list, contact your IT admin for assistance. Show the information from step 3 to your admin. That person should be able to make the appropriate apps and services like SharePoint visible to you when you sign in to microsoft365.com.
