Word uses these options to format entries when building a table of contents. Try changing them, and then look at the Print Preview or Web Preview in the Table of Contents dialog.
Styles    A selection of the available entries you're using in your document that you can include in your table of contents.
TOC level    This specifies at what level each entry displays. For Headings, the number marked correspond with the Show levels setting in the previous dialog. If you add or remove level numbers here, Show levels is updated. You can also specify other elements in the document to appear.
Outline levels    Controls whether outline levels you've assigned to a paragraph are included in the table of contents or not. If a paragraph or element doesn't have an outline level assigned, this switch has no effect.
Table entry fields    This tells Word to include TC field code marked text in a table of contents. It's often used to include text that only appears in the table of contents and not in the document. For more info on TC field codes and their use, see Field codes: TC (Table of Contents Entry) field.
OK Â Â Â Saves and closes the Options dialog and returns you to the Table of Contents dialog.
Cancel    This ignores any changes you've made, closes the Options dialog and returns you to the Table of Contents dialog.
