Get & Transform is a powerful set of tools based on Power Query technology, which enables you to easily connect, combine, and shape data coming from a variety of sources to meet your analysis needs. 

Note: Power Query was originally introduced as an add-in for Excel 2013, and is still available to Excel 2013 users.

With the introduction of Get & Transform features in Excel 2016, we made the first step towards enhancing of the data gathering and shaping capabilities in Excel. Learn more about Get & Transform in Excel 2016. 

Today we are glad to announce the next major update to data import and shaping functionality in Excel – the unified Get & Transform experience. With this update, we rearranged the ribbon and enhanced the data import experience to make it easier for the users to access and take a full advantage of the powerful Get & Transform capabilities. The new unified Get & Transform experience also replaces the legacy set of wizards (previously available under Data > Get External Data), which can still be accessed via Excel Options or ribbon customization.

Note: The unified Get & Transform experience is only available if you are an Office 365 subscriber, and have the latest version of Office installed.
