On the View tab, select New Quick Note or, on your keyboard, press
+Alt+N (even when OneNote isn't running). -
Type your note in the small note window that appears. When you're done, close the note. OneNote automatically saves Quick Notes in the Quick Notes section at the bottom of the notebooks list.
Tips:Â

To rename a note, in the Quick Notes section, right-click the note tab, select Rename, and type a new name.

To move a Quick Note, in the Quick Notes section, right-click the note tab, select Move or Copy, and select a location.
Creating Quick Notes isn't available in OneNote for the web. However, you can create a new page in your notebook and use it as a Quick Note.
