The COUNT function counts cells that contain numerical values.

  1. In a cell where you want the result, type =COUNT(value1, value2).

  2. For value1 and value2 select or type a range of cells that have numbers. 
    For example =COUNT(A12:A233).

Value2 is optional. If used, the result will be the sum of the count of value1 and value2's range.
