Important: Starting in mid-September 2023 the Twitter web part will no longer be available in the web part toolbox within SharePoint pages. Any pages that already have the Twitter web part won't  be affected by this change, but due to a change in Twitter’s terms of use for third-party access, users may see an error message. 

This article describes the Twitter web part, where you can show tweets that are relevant to you or your audience right on your page.

  • If you don't see this web part in the web part toolbox, your administrator may have disabled it.

  • The Twitter web part is not available in SharePoint Server 2019.

  • Twitter no longer supports the Internet Explorer 11 browser. For this web part to work properly, use a browser supported by Twitter.

Add the Twitter web part - Not available after September 2023

  1. Go to the page where you want to add the Twitter web part.

  2. If you're not in edit mode already, click Edit at the top right of the page.

  3. Hover your mouse above or below an existing web part or under the title region, click Circled plus sign used to add a modern web part to a page, and then select the Twitter web part.

Show tweets from a user

  1. In the box under Add a Twitter username or a link for a tweet or collection, enter the Twitter username or web address for the tweets you want to get. For example:

Show tweets from a collection

Get results from a collection

You can show results from a collection of Tweets that you curate and manage.

  1. If you don't already have a collection, you can create one using TweetDeck For instructions, see advanced tweetdeck features and scroll down to the section on Collections.

  2. Once you have created your collection, click the Filter icon at the top of the collection to access the menu, then click Share and View on twitter.com.

  3. From Twitter, copy the web address of the collection. It should look something like this:

  4. In the Twitter web part property pane on your SharePoint page, paste the link for the collection it in the box under Add a Twitter username or a link for a tweet or collection. For example:

Set display options

  • Under Display as, select List or Grid.

  • Turn on or off Display header and Display borders.

  • Set Theme color to Dark or Light.

  • Enter the number of the maximum number of tweets you want to show in the Maximum Tweets displayed box.

Note: Administrators familiar with SharePoint PowerShell can hide this web part from the web part toolbox by using the command Set-SPOTenant [-DisabledWebPartIds <Guid>]. See the PowerShell reference for Set-SPOTenant for more information.
