We recently announced the availability of the OneNote app on Windows in the Microsoft Store and that OneNote for Windows 10 will reach end-of-support in Oct 2025. What does this mean for OneNote for Windows 10 right now? In short, nothing. There is no impact to you if you are currently using OneNote for Windows 10. It will continue to work for the near future and receive important updates.
The release in the Microsoft Store allows new users to find the OneNote app and not OneNote for Windows 10 app when they search for OneNote in the Store. While OneNote for Windows 10 is still available in the Store, it is no longer searchable or installable for new users. As an existing user, if you need to install it on a new or cleaned device, or require a deployment link for your organization, it can still be found through this direct link.
Note: Downloads are limited to those who previously installed it with their Microsoft account, or have a promotional code, and are using a Windows 10 or 11 device.
As you may have heard, we are investing in the OneNote app going forward, starting with bringing OneNote for Windows’s modern look and feel, and navigation customization options to the app. We have announced the visual refresh and this is currently in the process of rolling out. We are working to add the ability for you to move your navigation to the left side of the app, bringing a consistent navigation experience across all OneNote apps. We will share more details on this so watch for a future communication from us!
We understand switching to a different app is hard. We want to hear your feedback on what features you would like us to consider bringing to the OneNote app. You can reach out to us through Feedback or at mention us on X (@msonenote). Bookmark the OneNote blog to stay up to date on feature rollout and other updates.
