Spill means a formula returns multiple values (a dynamic array). A spill error occurs when a formula's results are blocked from being displayed. Here are several reasons:
-
Spill range isn't blank. The spill range for a spilled array formula isn't blank, such as a value already in a column of cells to fill by the formula.
-
Spill into merged cells. Spilled array formulas cannot spill into merged cells. Unmerge the cells in question, or move the formula to fill another range.
-
Indeterminate size. Excel isn't unable to determine the size of the spilled array because it resizes between calculation passes. For instance, =SEQUENCE(RANDBETWEEN(1,1000)).
-
Unrecognized/Fallback. Excel doesn't recognize, or can't reconcile the cause of this error. Check that your formula contains all required arguments.
