When you send a message, it is temporarily stored in the outbox until it has been sent successfully.
Typically, the message stays in the outbox for a very short time, but if you aren't connected to your email server or something else is amiss, a message may stay in the outbox for a while.Â

The Outbox is shown in the folder pane with all your other folders, listed alphabetically.

If your folder pane in classic Outlook isn't open, select the View tab on the ribbon, then select Layout > Folder Pane > Normal.

Also, if you draft an email message in new Outlook and schedule it to be sent tomorrow morning, the message is stored in the Outbox folder until the scheduled delivery time arrives.Â
