Teams sets your status to Away after about 5 minutes of inactivity, your computer goes to sleep, or if you minimize Teams. You currently can't change the inactivity timeout, but you can use this workaround.

  1. Select your profile picture or initials in the upper right, and choose Set status message

  2. Enter a short message like "I'm here", or "I'm available" in the text field.

  3. Select Show when people message me.

  4. Under Clear status message after, select a duration such as Today, This week, or Never
Teams displays the message until the time you set.

  5. Select Done

Tip: Use split screen to help keep Teams from going away when minimized. Grab the apps title bar and drag to one side or another. Load another app to work with on the other side.
