Symptoms
Consider the following scenario in Professional Services Automation (PSA) in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 Service Pack 1 (SP1):
-
You set up a new project period in the Periods dialog box.
-
You select the Auto split week check box for the project period.
-
You generate periods that correspond to a month for the project period. Additionally, you delete the last week that is split to the next month in the Period transactions dialog box.
-
You try to generate periods that correspond to the next month for the project period.
In this scenario, you receive the following error message:
Cannot create a record in Project period lines (ProjPeriodLine). Period type: Period_type, Week Week_number.
The record already exists.
This problem occurs because the primary key constraint of ProjPeriodLine table. Therefore, the system cannot create a record for the first part of the split week when the record exists in the table.

You must restart the Application Object Server (AOS) service after you apply this hotfix.

Validation of the application hotfix installation
To validate the installation of the application hotfix, open the SysHotfixManifest class in the Application Object Tree (AOT). Then, verify that there is a method whose name includes the Knowledge Base (KB) article number of the installed hotfix. Additionally, you can cross-check the affected objects by comparing the KBXXXXXX.txt file against the objects in the AOT. By doing this, you can make sure that the objects are changed correctly in the SYP layer or in the GLP layer.
Note The XXXXXX placeholder represents the KB article number of the installed hotfix.
