Symptoms

Assume that you use a public server role with super permission in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009. When you insert data into the "Standard Item Journal Line" table (753), you receive an error message that resembles the following:

The following SQL Server error(s) occurred while accessing the TableName table:

1088, "42000",[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Cannot find the object " NAVDBName.dbo.CompanyName$TableName" because it does not exist or you do not have permissions.

SQL:
SET IDENTITY_INSERT "NAVDBName"."dbo"."CompanyName$TableName" ON.

This problem occurs in the following products:

  • Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2

  • Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 Service Pack 1

Cause

This problem occurs because the Line No. field has the AutoIncrement property set to Yes in the "Standard Item Journal Line" table (753).

Code changes

Note Always test code fixes in a controlled environment before you apply the fixes to your production computers.
To resolve this problem, follow these steps:

  1. Change the code in the Fields section in the Standard Item Journal Line" table (753) as follows:
    Existing code

    ...
    CaptionML=ENU=Journal Template Name;
    NotBlank=Yes }

    // Delete the following lines.
    { 2 ; ;Line No. ;Integer ;AutoIncrement=Yes;
    CaptionML=ENU=Line No.;
    // End of the lines.

    NotBlank=Yes;
    Editable=No }
    ...

    Replacement code

    ...
    CaptionML=ENU=Journal Template Name;
    NotBlank=Yes }

    // Add the following line.
    { 2 ; ;Line No. ;Integer ;CaptionML=ENU=Line No.;

    NotBlank=Yes;
    Editable=No }
    ...
  2. Change the code in the SaveItemJnlAsStandardJnl function in the Save as Standard Item Journal" report (751) as follows:
    Existing code 1

    ...
    VAR
    StdItemJnlLine@1000 : Record 753;
    BEGIN
    StdItemJnl.INIT;
    ...

    Replacement code 1

    ...
    VAR
    StdItemJnlLine@1000 : Record 753;

    // Add the following line.
    NextLineNo@1001 : Integer;

    BEGIN
    StdItemJnl.INIT;
    ...

    Existing code 2

    ...
    StdItemJnl.INSERT(TRUE);

    // Delete the following lines.
    IF ItemJnlLine.FIND('-') THEN
    REPEAT
    StdItemJnlLine."Line No." := 0;
    // End of the lines.

    StdItemJnlLine.INIT;
    StdItemJnlLine."Journal Template Name" := StdItemJnl."Journal Template Name";
    ...

    Replacement code 2

    ...
    StdItemJnl.INSERT(TRUE);

    // Add the following lines.
    NextLineNo := 10000;
    IF ItemJnlLine.FIND('-') THEN
    REPEAT
    StdItemJnlLine."Line No." := NextLineNo;
    NextLineNo := NextLineNo + 10000;
    // End of the lines.

    StdItemJnlLine.INIT;
    StdItemJnlLine."Journal Template Name" := StdItemJnl."Journal Template Name";
    ...

    Existing code 3

    ...
    StdItemJnlLine.Amount := 0;
    END;

    // Delete the following line.
    StdItemJnlLine.INSERT(TRUE);

    CopyItemJnlLineDims(ItemJnlLine,StdItemJnlLine);
    UNTIL ItemJnlLine.NEXT = 0;
    ...

    Replacement code 3

    ...
    StdItemJnlLine.Amount := 0;
    END;

    // Add the following line.
    StdItemJnlLine.INSERT(FALSE);

    CopyItemJnlLineDims(ItemJnlLine,StdItemJnlLine);
    UNTIL ItemJnlLine.NEXT = 0;
