In a Microsoft Office 2010 document, you create a hyperlink to a file server. The link has the following format:
\\FileServer\ShareFolderWhen you click the link to open the shared folder on the file server, you receive the following error message:
Cannot open the specified file.
The error does not occur if you use the following hyperlink format instead:
\\FileServerWhen you click the link to open the shared folder in this case, you are prompted for your credentials. Then, you can access the shared folder on the file server.
To work around this issue, establish a session with the file server before you use a hyperlink that has the \\FileServer\ShareFolder format.
