Symptoms

Assume that you install Update Rollup 8 for Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 2 (KB2903903) from Microsoft Update and then try to uninstall the update. In this situation, you may receive the following error message:

Error reading from file Drive:\Setup\ServerRoles\TransportRoles\<Folder Name>\Hygiene\ASDat.MSI. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.

Cause

This is a known issue. It may occur in the following language versions of Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 2:

  • Arabic

  • Chinese

  • Hebrew

  • Italian

  • Japanese

  • Korean

  • Portuguese

  • Russian

  • Spanish

Workaround

To work around this issue, rename the "agents" folder to the folder name that is displayed in the error message that you received. The "agents" folder is contained in the TransportRoles folder.  For example, you receive the following error message:

Error reading from file C:\ex\Setup\ServerRoles\TransportRoles\エージェント\Hygiene\ASDat.MSI. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.

In this case, you should go to C:\ex\Setup\ServerRoles\TransportRoles and then rename the "agents" folder to the following:

エージェン Then, try to uninstall the update again.Note You can also upgrade to Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 3. This version does not exhibit this issue.
