Problem description

This article describes how to enable Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) messages to use INTERNALDATE as the delivery date of a message in Outlook 2007.

Steps to solve this problem

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:

  1. This issue is fixed in the Outlook 2007 hotfix package (Outlook.msp) that is dated October 28, 2008. Therefore, you should apply and install this hotfix package.

  2. Enable the hotfix.

    To have us enable the hotfix for you, go to the "Fix it for me" section. If you prefer to enable the hotfix yourself, go to the "Let me fix it myself" section.

    Fix it for me To enable the hotfix automatically, click the
    Fix it button or link. Click
    Runin the
    File Downloaddialog box, and then follow the steps in the Fix it wizard.



    Note this wizard may be in English only; however, the automatic fix also works for other language versions of Windows.

    Note If you are not on the computer that has the problem, you can save the automatic fix to a flash drive or to a CD, and then you can run it on the computer that has the problem.

    1. Exit Outlook 2007

    2. Start Registry Editor.

      • In Windows Vista: Click the Start button , type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.

        User Account Control If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or provide confirmation.

      • In Windows XP: Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.

    3. Locate and then click one of the following registry subkeys, as appropriate for your situation:

      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\Options\MailIf you use policies, click the following registry subkey:

      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\Options\MailNote Both registry subkeys perform the same function.

    4. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.

    5. Type IMAP Use INTERNALDATE, and then press ENTER.

    6. Right-click IMAP Use INTERNALDATE, and then click Modify.

    7. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.

    8. Exit Registry Editor.
