Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You are an Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS) enabled user. However, you are a Microsoft Lync Online disabled user.

  • You log on to windows by using the credentials of a Lync Online enabled user.

  • You try to log on to Lync Online by using your sign-in address.

In this scenario, Lync 2010 prompts you for your user credentials. However, this behavior is unexpected. 

Note In this scenario, you are expected to receive the following error message:

Can not sign in to Lync because this sign-in address was not found. Please verify the sign-in address and try again. If the problem continues, please contact your support team.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, install the following cumulative update:

2467763 Description of the cumulative update package for Lync 2010: January 2011

Status

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
