Select the pictures you want to work with.

On the Formattingtoolbar, click Edit Pictures.

In the Edit Pictures task pane, under Edit using these tools, click Brightness and contrast.

Do one of the following:

To automatically correct the brightness levels of the picture, under Correct brightness automatically, click Auto Brightness.

To manually adjust brightness, move the Brightness slider or enter a number in the box next to the slider.

To manually adjust contrast, move the Contrast slider or enter a number in the box next to the slider.

To manually adjust midtones, move the Midtones slider or enter a number in the box next to the slider.

To manually adjust highlights, click More next to Advanced Settings, and then move the Highlight slider or enter a number in the box next to the slider.

To manually adjust shadows, click More next to Advanced Settings, and then move the Shadow slider or enter a number in the box next to the slider.

Note: You can undo an edit by clicking the corresponding Undo command on the Edit menu. The edits to the pictures will not be saved until you explicitly save them.
