Consider the following scenario:

  • You have computers that are running Windows RT, Windows 8, or Windows Server 2012.

  • You run an application that calls a ReaderWriterLockSlim¬†class in Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 on the computer.

In this scenario, the application freezes and cannot be used.


This issue occurs because a deadlock event is not released in .NET Framework 4.0 after it calls into the kernel OS primitive functions.


To resolve this issue, install update rollup 2962407. For more information about how to obtain this update rollup package, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
