Changes to accessing Clipchamp through its Windows app

If you used the Clipchamp desktop app for Windows 10 and Windows 11 in the past (before July 2022) and are using a more recent version now, you will likely notice some differences.

Some of them are due to the app undergoing changes since Clipchamp became part of Microsoft in 2021, in line with updates to Clipchamp that you might have noticed when accessing it in a browser.

Other more recent changes are due to the Clipchamp desktop app getting updated so that it is available for users of both the personal and work versions of our video editor.

All updates are creating a more seamless experience while using Clipchamp alongside other apps that use your Microsoft account, such as OneDrive, Word, or SharePoint.

What changed?

For users of Clipchamp's personal version

When you open the Clipchamp app that is installed on your personal Windows device or that you downloaded from the Microsoft Store, you'll be automatically logged in using your personal or family Microsoft account. If we cannot automatically log you in, you will be prompted to choose a Microsoft account to log in with. Therefore, make sure you have one connected to your Clipchamp account.

When you access Clipchamp's personal version in the browser (Edge or Chrome) you can also continue to use a Google login, email with unique login link or email/password, as before.

For users of Clipchamp's work version

If you're using the Clipchamp desktop app on a work computer with your work Microsoft 365 account and have the latest version of the app installed, launching it will automatically log you into Clipchamp's work version.

If that is not the case, then the latest app version is likely not available on your computer yet. It is currently in the process of getting rolled out and might not have been enabled in your Microsoft 365 organization yet.

Generally, the availability of the Clipchamp desktop app on your work computer is controlled by your Microsoft 365 administrator. Your administrator can make the app available on corporate devices and can also decide if both the personal and work versions of Clipchamp are enabled or only the work version. For more information, see: Work account support in the Clipchamp app for Windows.

If the desktop app is not available on your work computer, you can continue to access Clipchamp in the browser, as before.
