Summary

This article describes the issues that are fixed in the 2013 Microsoft Office system hotfix package that is dated February 12, 2013.

INTRODUCTION

Issues that this hotfix package fixes

  • Assume that you connect the retail version of Outlook 2013 to a third-party provider such as LinkedIn or Facebook. When you open the people pane in collapsed mode, status messages from the third-party provider are truncated and displayed as incomplete.

  • Assume that you open a .pdf file that contains characters from a numbering system in Word 2013. For example, the file contains characters that are dotted lines. When the string length of the characters is longer than the numbering code can parse, Word 2013 becomes unresponsive.

  • Consider the following scenario:

    • You open a Word document that has some shapes or pictures in Word 2013.

    • You right-click one of the shapes or pictures in the Word document.

    • You click Edit Points for the shape, or point to Wrap Text and then click Edit Wrap Points for the picture.

In this scenario, other shapes and pictures may disappear from the word document.

  • When you use the Chinese lunar calendar in Outlook 2013 or in an earlier version of Outlook, the Gregorian date is displayed as an incorrect lunar date. For example, the Gregorian date June 8, 2013 is displayed as lunar date 4/30 instead of 5/1.

  • Consider the following scenario:

    • You are an Active Directory user.

    • You click the FILE tab in an Office 2013 client.

    • You click Add a service on the Account tab, point to Other Sites, and then click Microsoft account to connect to a Microsoft account.

    • You close the Office 2013 client and change the password of the Microsoft account.

    • You restart the Office 2013 client and try to repair the connection of the Microsoft account.

In this scenario, the Office 2013 client crashes.

  • Consider the following scenario:

    • You upload a document to a SharePoint Server 2013 document library.

    • The Require Check Out feature is enabled for the document library.

    • You use the Sync button in the document library to synchronize the document together with a local folder on your computer.

    • You open the document from the local folder.

In this scenario, the document is displayed in offline mode and does not contain a check-out bar. Note The expected action is that the document be displayed in read-only mode and contain a check-out bar.
